The icarplay by monster is the newest addition to the growing family of iPod FM transmitters available. With a sleek looking design, and Monster's car audio experience this is sure to be a fan favorite amongst iPod owners. Like all the other FM modulating units available, this one works by plugging into your iPod, and transmitting the tunes over an FM band that you can tune into on your car radio. The Fm signal used can be chosen from on of the 8 preset's available in the unit. Some are better then others depending on where you live, and the radio stations in that area.

While it's hard to improve on a a pretty basic item like the FM transmistter, Monster managed to offer a couple of unique features to it's icarplay unit. First off one end plugs into your 12V cigarette lighter plug in your dash and the other to your iPod. THe 12V plug charges your iPod while you listen and powers the Fm unit there by saving battery life. Some of the other units on the market pull their power from the iPod itself. Also the Monster FM transmitter works with all iPods that have a dock connector. This is the ideal setup on unit for all iPods, no adapters, or different models to get the job done.

As mentioned above, there are 8 preset FM channels to choose from, there are three programmable favorite station buttons on the body of the icarplay. This is for easy access of programming to your radio when you're on the move. While it's not a daunting task to change the FM channel these units use it's something done best while parked, so having presets makes it a bit easier while driving.

Monster has always been big on this in car and home audio cables, 24KT connectors; and the icarplay is no exception. While the difference may not be huge gold plated connectors do ensure better conductivity, and of course are more resistant to corrosion. Now while you may not think of it older cars that may not have tight seals around the doors, or a small leak in the trunk etc. can have mositure in the car. For long periods of time if your icarplay is left in your glovebox or console the mositure can damage the connectors.

So is the this item for you? Do you long for wire free iPod listening while you roll down the road? Then yes this is what you need. Of course there are other units that do the job as the Monster prodcut, but the early reviews of this unit seem to push towards this being a tad superior to some of the others available. The price is competitve, it offers an LCD screen and of course it still looks cool! Like everything else must to be connected to your iPod.
