iPod Car Accessories

It was inevitable that iPod car accessories would catch on. We spend so much time in our vehicles, whether driving to work or school. Picking the kids up after hockey practice, going for groceries etc. It only made sense that a variety of manufacturers would wake up and start producing products specifically to match your iPod with your car.

The most noted ipod car accessory would be the FM transmitter. Borrowing technology that's been around for several years it simply connects your iPod to the radio in your car. For you audiophiles, not it cannot give you the CD quality sound that MP3's are capable of but lets face it when we're sitting in a traffic jam, anything is better then listening to that same old ad for the burger join down the street. Now we all have one for our cell phones why not our iPods, another useful ipod car accessory is the charger. Many of the FM adapters available will charge your iPod at the same time as playing it, but if you're not using you iPod while you're in the car you might as well ensure it's fully charged for when you do need it.

Griffin Powerpod

The Griffin powerpod is a universal car charger for all the current iPods except the shuffle. It's an in-expensive car accessory that is practical to own if you're an iPod fan.

Now last but not least in the iPod car accessories lineup, is the tape adapter, because not all of us iPod owners are high rollers with CD players in our cars. Monster who also produces the iCarPlay have come out with the monster cassette adapter for the iPod.

Monster Cassette Adapter

This accessory works just like the old Discman car adapters did. Push the cassette into your tape deck, plug it into your iPod and viola! You've got your complete music library playing in your car! It's the easiest and least expensive way to get tunes in your car from your iPod.

More recently there have been some car manufacturers (i.e. Volvo) coming to the table with options direct from the factory for using your iPod as a source for music in your car. The future is Mp3 and digital media, but some manufacturers are weary to put a standard option for just one brand. We'll have to see what the future holds for this one.
